Use speech recognition in ANY text box on ANY website
With VoiceIn you can use speech recognition capabilities in ANY textbox on ANY website. VoiceIn uses Google's speech recognition engine, the most accurate Speech To Text technology available today to let you voice type into any website.
After initial installation - it's recommended to close and reopen the browser, so it can work smoothly on all opened tabs.
There are three ways to start dictation:
1) Simply place the mouse in the text-box, and then you can either right-click and choose Start-Recording from the popup menu, or,
2) Simply click on the extension's button right to the address bar. VoiceIn works silently in the background and is always on.
3) Use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+9 on Chromebook/Windows/Linux ; Command+Shift+9 on Mac. You can change these by going to chrome extensions chrome://extensions/shortcuts
Default recognition language is English-US. The app supports over 120 languages. See the list of languages supported here: https://support.dictanote.co/hc/en-us/articles/360007327931-List-of-Languages-Supported
To switch language go to the app's options page (go to chrome://extensions/ > VoiceIn Details > open Options)
When you use the extension for the first time - you'll need to give the extension microphone permissions.
Sites tested to work:
Google Search (google.com)
Zoho Mail (mail.zoho.com)
Hacker News (news.ycombinator.com)
Outlook (outlook.com) - body only
Most sites with simple textbox / input box
Some sites where it doesn't work:
Facebook post / message
Reddit post body
Google Docs (you can use the in-built voice typing in Google Docs)
The main reason it doesn't work on these sites is because these sites have complex mechanisms for text input, which makes it hard to programmatically insert text into them.
