Overview

Uranium - in the element series

Uranium - U This is a new series or collection that I am starting called "Element". This element is Uranium and its element abbreviation is U. Uranium is a radioactive element, meaning it slowly dissolves into thin air, and in every direction! This is dangerous to life because the radiation emitted from radioactive elements can go RIGHT through our bodies. BUT, if the radiation doesn't perfectly go through you and happens to bump into some of you, it will crash into your cells and tear out peaces of DNA. DNA damage is not a good thing as DNA is the biochemical recipe (like a cake recipe!) for YOU! Imagine if the recipe called for 10 cups of flour and 10 cups of sugar and the radiation knocked out a 0 on the flour, you would see only 1 cup of flour on the recipe. Then, making the recipe with 10 cups of sugar and only 1 cup of flour will give you a big hot pile of steaming baloney. For real radiation and life, radiation eventually causes death or severe mutations in offspring :( This specific sample is called Uranium glass. Radioactive elements: dangerous stuff! Enjoy the series! If you have any requests, don't be shy to let me know in the comments. I plan on making the most recognizable/easiest first! Andy Google.com/+AndrewTurk
