Monitors and tests known ad trackers for HTTPS supprt
CHANGELOG: Latest Update requires a new permission to know the currently active tab. This falls under the "Read and change all your data on the websites you visit" notification. The reason for this is a huge performance improvement: The extension now only runs its tests on the active tab, instead of all tabs at once. Once you switch tabs, the tests for the newly active tab are run.
TrackerSSL monitors the third party connections loaded when you visit a page and checks whether or not they support HTTPS. We assign a score for a given page, based on how many trackers support HTTPS. We determine HTTPS support by running each tracker URL through the EFF's HTTPS Everywhere engine.
The extension also looks for unique identifiers sent to third parties, and notes whether or not they have been sent securely or not.
With this knowledge, you can tweet to the website hosts and ask them to implement better security practices on their sites, use more secure trackers, or, thank websites that are secure!
This is still an alpha release. For best results, TrackerSSL should be installed *before* ad blocking extensions, so that it can run its tests before third parties are blocked.
