Quickly shorten links with goo.gl, copy them to the clipboard, and generate QR codes
ShortenMe allows you to shorten URLs with goo.gl, copy them to the clipboard, and generate QR codes of them all in one click. In addition, you can securely connect your Google Account to this extension so that you can manage your shortened links and get statistics on the goo.gl website. It's simple, fast, and completely free.
The QR codes that ShortenMe generates are very useful for opening links on mobile devices. They're also great for showing on a projector. If you want to copy the link of the QR code to share with someone else, simply click on the QR code image and it'll automatically be copied to the clipboard.
ShortenMe can also be activated by a customizable keyboard shortcut. If you want to set one up, just right click on ShortenMe's icon and choose Manage. Then, scroll down and click on the Keyboard Shortcuts link to assign a shortcut. Now you can shorten a link and copy it to your clipboard with a single keyboard shortcut.
The latest version of this extension was released on December 7, 2014. This update fixes a problem caused by a recent Chrome update that prevented links from being copied to the clipboard automatically. The new version uses a more reliable method that shouldn't break again in the future. Your existing copy of the extension will automatically update with this fix.
ShortenMe uses the official Google URL Shortener API and OAuth 2.0 to authorize your account. Thanks for using ShortenMe! I develop this extension in my free time and make no money off of it. If you like ShortenMe, please consider leaving a positive review.
