Intelligently warns you of adult search query and removes adult autocomplete suggestions from your address bar.
Secured Browse is a Chrome browser extension. It scans your search query and the autocomplete suggestions to check if they contain potential adult search terms. Once a potential adult term is identified in your search query, it will mark it with a warning symbol to warn you about the danger of being exposed to adult content. The extension also allows users to apply different levels of protection.
Click on the action icon of this extension and select different levels of protection:
1. High level of protection marks the search query that may lead you to search results of adult content with a warning symbol and removes the autocomplete suggestions that may lead you to adult content. This is also the default protection level after this extension has been added to your Chrome browser.
2. Medium level of protection marks both the search query and the autocomplete suggestions that may contain adult content, without removing any potentially unsafe autocomplete terms.
3. You can also turn off the protection. By turning the protection level off, you may be exposed to unsafe adult content.
Permissions used and reasons:
1. Access to “contextMenus”. We require this permission to access your context menu and to add items such as “Privacy Policy”, “Uninstall” and “FAQ” to assist you to conveniently access these options.
2. Access to “cookies”. We require this permission to access cookies to track the status of the protection level that you select (off/medium/high).
3. Change your default search settings. In order to provide the extension’s function, we require to change your default search settings to getsecuredbrowsesearch.com , powered by Yahoo. This extension supports Yahoo, Google, and Bing. If you want to select a different search engine, you can click on the action icon of this extension and click on the Settings button on top right corner to access the search engine selection menu.
