Create Google Classroom assignments using K-12 free and open education resources (OER)
The Open Education Search extension for Google Chrome helps educators find online material from over 100,000 open items. This extension provides a search interface to find free materials, such as math lessons, English examples and science simulations from online publishers such as PBS Learning Media, Khan Academy, Discovery Education, NASA and many other popular web sites. Start your search by typing in a keyword and target items using the filters on the left. Grade level, publisher, language, resource type, learning standard (such as Common Core State Standards or Next Generation Science Standards) and subject are supported if provided by publishers.
This extension has additional features for Google Classroom users. When a search is performed from within Google Classroom, the search items will show an option to automatically create an assignment.
These items are sourced by the Learning Registry project (http://learningregistry.org), which is technology that distributes metadata in the open for online learning resources.
Learning Tapestry develops open-source, infrastructure components that support learning across an array of digital environments. Along with this extension, we also offer digital search APIs and metadata management solutions for educational products and school districts.
