Overview

Implements scroll-to element api

Chrome implements the scroll-to-text-fragment proposal specified in WICG, https://wicg.github.io/scroll-to-text-fragment/, however recently work has begun on extending this proposal to supports scrolling to arbitrary HTML elements. This extension implements the proposed spec behavior in https://github.com/WICG/scroll-to-text-fragment/blob/main/EXTENSIONS.md . This means that when loading a URL like https://example.org#:~:selector(type=CssSelector,value=img[src$="example.org"]) the extension will find the element that matches the selector img[src$="example.org"] and scroll it into view emulating the behavior that will eventually be added to Chrome. The primary purpose of this extension is to facilitate research into whether the current proposed behavior works for the majority of use cases, however once this behavior is launched in Chrome a similar extension could be used in other browsers to get the same scroll-to behavior that Chrome implements natively.
