Overview

Sceptiq browser assistant

Sceptiq is a powerful integrated system for researchers, students and anyone else with an inquisitive mind and passion for continuous development and learning. It offers a suite of tools to elevate acquisition, digestion and recall of knowledge. The Sceptiq Assistant integrates with your browser as an interface between the wide wild web and your personal library. Some of the assistant’s capabilities are summarised below. Highlight text Select text anywhere on the page and create a persistent highlight that comes back to greet you anytime you visit the page again *. Create annotations anywhere on the page The assistant lets you create floating sticky notes that you are free to position anywhere on the page. Alternatively write notes and anchor these to text on the page for greater contextual depth *. Get definitions Highlight a phrase on the page and get definitions for words or concepts without interrupting your flow. Tweet annotations Share your annotated pages on Twitter in two steps with the integrated Tweet composer. Custom highlights Enter a phrase of your choosing and the assistant will automatically highlight all literal matches on the page. Power users can specify a regular expression. Support for PDF documents All features are also available on PDF documents. Integration with your personal Sceptiq library The assistant persists state to your personal library and re-applies highlights and annotations on subsequent visits *. Advanced settings The assistant is unintrusive. Hide or re-enable highlights and annotations, or simply turn off the assistant at the push of a button. The Sceptiq assistant is free to download and use, and most features do not require an account. However, features that persist state do require an account. We are currently running a beta programme and accepting new users. Sign up for our beta programme and get a free account while there are slots available: https://dev.sceptiq.com/beta/join/ * This feature requires a Sceptiq account.
