As the day of journey nears, we tend to get twitchy about whether we will get a reservation or not. We keep logging on IRCTC/Railway website to check the PNR status of the tickets. Add to that if our return tickets are also wait-listed, then we have to check two PNR numbers. Just think of the hassle you have to go through to locate the PNR numbers every time and then open Railway website, enter the PNR number and wait for the site to load the status. The Sad part is that, through the website, we can check only one PNR at a time, which means in order to check the second PNR you have to go back to the main page, enter the details, and wait for the site to load the status once again. Often, there PNR servers use to be down due to query loads and you might be left with no alternative for checking the status or get your details at that time. But even when the server is down the extension collects passenger's PNR number and send email and desktop notifications as and when the status changes.
Our application gives travellers the ultimate advantage. By using our application, you not only can store multiple PNR’s but you can also let our application do the tedious work of checking the status for you. You do not need to carry the ticket or the numbers around. Just enter it once and forget about it. As stated earlier, our application will continuously check for updates and inform you as soon as there is an improvement in the wait-list position. The extension pings the server continuously to get an update even when you sleep. If you have entered your e-mail id then our app’s built-in-code will ensure that it keeps checking for a status even after you switch off your system, so you need not worry about missing a notification update.
Install our extension now and enjoy the hassle free and stress-free way of checking your PNR reservation status.
What is the meaning of PNR?
PNR stands for Passenger Name Record and it is a 10-digit number located on the top left-hand corner of the ticket. The 10-digit number is split into 3 digits and 7 digits. The last seven digits are randomly generated by the computer and do not signify anything. The first three digits signify the originating PRS [Passenger Reservation System] from where the ticket have been issued. Refer the information below to know more.
◘ 2 and 3 refer to NR, NCR, NWR, and NER region.
◘ 4 and 5 refer to SR, SWR, and SCR region
◘ 6 and 7 refer to NFR, ECR, ER, ECoR, SER, and SECR region
◘ 8 and 9 refer to CR, WCR, and WR region
It is always advisable to either store a copy of your original ticket or, at least maintain a copy of the PNR. This helps in a situation where you have lost your tickets and need a duplicate ticket to be issued.
