Outbreak Science Rapid PREreview facilitates rapid, open review of preprint related to outbreaks
Outbreak Science Rapid PREreview is an open science project born by the collaboration between PREreview and Outbreak Science. This project focuses on building infrastructure for all researchers working in the field of infectious diseases to read, provide, and request feedback on emerging scientific literature published as preprints.
Preprints are complete scientific manuscripts made available rapidly and freely online before editorial-organized peer review. They provide an opportunity for the scientific community to come together and give feedback to the authors, helping make the science better.
Anyone can use this web extension to read reviews on preprints or, alternatively, view the content directly at https://outbreaksci.prereview.org. Researchers with an ORCID iD can join the Outbreak Science Rapid PREreview community to provide reviews and/or solicit community feedback on outbreak-related preprints. To provide feedback, community members fill out a rapid review, a review consisting of a few, short yes or no questions and two optional open-ended questions.
Reading, requesting, and providing reviews can all be done using thIs web extension or through the website, https://outbreaksci.prereview.org. The extension allows users to easily access the review features directly while viewing preprints on supported external servers.
