Swaps out diaeresis in New Yorker articles.
If you find the use of diaeresis in New Yorker articles a distraction, install this extension. All it does is swap a hyphen in where, for example, the venerable rag has decided to spell co-operate coöperate. (If you'd prefer cooperate, you're out of luck.)
The extension tries to preserve diaeresis where it's still needed, but I can't promise it won't occasionally over- or under-correct.
(I quite like the fact they do it – but once I see it, I can't concentrate again for at least three paragraphs.)
