Apply PAC files only to Chromebooks, leaving Chrome browser unlocked
Using Google Chrome Management Console it is possible to force a location-aware PAC file onto user accounts registered in the Enterprise domain. This allows for off-site filtering of Enterprise equipment, by creating a proxy connection that is automatically routed through a filtered network. However, if a user in the domain logs into Chrome browser on a non-Chromebook personal device, the PAC file will be pushed down and the user's personal device will be forced to use the proxy connection.
This extension creates an environment sensitive proxy connection, so when PAC files are pushed onto user accounts the proxy only takes effect when Chrome OS is detected. This will allow for off-site filtering of Chromebooks, while leaving Chrome browser unlocked. By utilizing a JSON policy parameter in Google’s Admin console the extension is easily tailored to any agencies specific PAC file.
This extension is ideal for organizations with Enterprise owned and managed Chromebooks that require a reliable and flexible off-site filtering solution.
