Student Message Center

Student Message Center is designed to work with the URcast Network infrastructure to deliver educational content.

The Student Message Center is the client app for the URcast Network. It runs on a student's device and interacts with the URcast infrastructure, which you must have in your school to use this app. URcast is a software product that runs on servers installed in a school and on student and teacher devices such as Chromebooks, PCs, iPads and Android devices. URcast stores content selected by teachers - such as large video files - and delivers it automatically to student devices using the school's Local Area Network. URcast eliminates the need for each student to download their own copy of the files across the school's external Internet connection. By doing this, URcast significantly reduces usage of the usually expensive external connection. Teachers control what content is delivered to the students as well as the time and date the content is sent, exists and expires on the student devices, thus enabling smarter and more efficient use of precious network resources. URcast is an example of what is called a Content Distribution System or CDS. CDS software is used by enterprises and Internet providers worldwide to reduce network costs and speed up access to content, by storing copies of files close to end users and sharing those copies among multiple users who access the same files.
