When you get a chain email, we get you the truth.
LazyTruth is a Gmail gadget that surfaces verified debunks when you receive a chain email. It all happens right in your inbox, without requiring you to search anywhere. The result is that it becomes much more convenient for you to combat misinformation, rather than give in to its volume. Whether it’s political rumors, gift card scams, or phishing attempts, fact is now as convenient as fiction. (Lazy Truth)
Why we ask for the permissions:
Your data on google.com, devtools, and mail.google.com:
When you press the LazyTruth button, the extension will run the content of the email against the LazyTruth API for a match, and return a match to the viral email, if we have one. This is sent over SSL, and no email content is logged.
Your tabs and browsing activity:
When you first install LazyTruth, we'll open a welcome page so you can test that it works. We need this tab permission to open this page.
