Control your browsing history. Disable and enable history recording when you decide.
Disable browsing history and surf without leaving records. Enable it again when you want to restart history tracking..
Google Chrome keeps history of all your activity and there’s a good reason for that. When you want to find that funny article again – it’s in your history, or you need to print that awesome recipe, you saw the other day – no worries, browser history is here to help, or if you accidentally closed a tab and want to reopen it – you guessed it, your browser history... But on the other hand, there are times when you’d rather keep your browser history for yourself, especially if you share a computer with other people. For example, if you are using a family computer, and you don’t want a family member to find out about a gift you secretly bought them, just because the browser keeps history of your searches, or you just need some privacy and want to pause history records from time to time…
Whatever the reason, History On/Off is the tool that will do the job. Pause history tracking for your more private searches and then restore it with just one click!
History On/Off is an extension which acts as a simple on/off switch. Click the button and you'll turn off history. Click again and history recording will be turned back on.
When history is disabled, a red "X" will be added to the toolbar button, so you'll always know if history is currently enabled or disabled.
History On/Off will only disable history recording, but it doesn't deal with cookies, local storage, browser cache etc. In other words -- all web sites will work as always, except that your visits will not be recorded in the browser's history.
* Options *
History On/Off comes with several options available (right-click the history icon and click “Options”):
• Don't Track Downloads (clear downloads history too) – this will tell the extension to keep your downloads list clean. When checked, new downloads will not be added to the recent downloads page
• Add History On/Off to the context menu – when checked, this will add a context-menu item for the history on/off switch
• Toolbar Icon – this option is for those of you who want to select some of the alternative icons for this extension (for example, if you are using different browser theme, you may want some different version of the icon)
