Guzinta Math: Measurement Conversions focuses on using ratios to convert from one unit of measure to another. Students are encouraged to use visuals, multiplication or division, and equivalent ratios to solve conversion problems. A lesson on area focuses on simply applying area formulas for parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids, and composite figures, and a lesson on histograms focuses on the key features of that data display as well as concepts around interpreting data displayed in histograms.
For one-on-one or whole-class mathematics instruction, use this Guzinta Math lesson as a supplement for teaching measurement conversions using ratios and area formulas for parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids--key concepts in 6th grade. The app includes detailed instructor notes for each guided practice problem, with notes about extending discussion around each worked example and problem.
