Detect fake news sites based on whether they are similar to known fake news sites using the power of artificial intelligence.
Fake news sites are proliferating every day, and it's becoming more and more difficult to identify reliable news. This extension adds a button to your browser bar, allowing you to instantly check whether a news site is fake using a neural network, the same technology as Siri and self-driving cars! Demo at fakenewsai.com.
This extension only analyzes websites when you ask it to. It is completely inactive otherwise, so it cannot slow down your browsing!
How it works for those curious: the extension analyzes a given news website for factors like its writing sophistication, site popularity, headline content, code structure, and many more. It then sends these factors to a neural network, which combines these factors numerically to produce a prediction. The best way to understand what the neural network is doing with the factors is by analogy: when you encounter a news website and try to determine whether it is fake, your brain combines all of the factors it sees and produces a guess based on intuition. The neural network does the same, except with numbers, in such a way that it produces accurate predictions on a list of known fake and real websites.
