Build your very own extension from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JS
Create Your Own (CYO for short), is the first extension to allow you to decide what it does. You add the HTML, the CSS, and the JS to create the Chrome extension of your dreams. Unlike all the other extensions which just give you a few basic options to change what it does, CYO let's you build from the ground up.
Be sure to check out the screenshots, for a more detailed look at how CYO works.
****WHAT TYPE OF CODE DOES CREATE YOUR OWN SUPPORT?****
Create Your Own supports:
- All standard HTML tags like <iframe>, <div>, and <h1>
- All standard CSS selectors and properties such as #id, .class, and "color"
- Most HTML 5 tags such as <nav>, <audio>, and <header>
- Most CSS 3 selectors and properties like the attribute selector [att*=val]
- Embedding Flash content and videos
- Local Storage is also supported, letting you save form values and add custom options.
Create Your Own also includes jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.2 so you can use all your favorite standard jQuery options.
****HOW DO I GET STARTED?****
To get started using CYO, you need to first click the "Install" button below. After CYO has been installed, go to your Chrome Extensions page (Wrench > Extensions) and visit the options for CYO. There you can start editing CYO. Be sure to click "Save" when you are done! To use your extension click on the CYO blueprint icon in your extension toolbar.
****IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE****
When using <a> tags you should always add the target attribute "_blank".
e.g. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.google.com">Google</a>
Without this links will not open. Also links will open in a new tab this way.
You could use an <iframe> to pull a mobile website such as m.yahoo.com
<iframe src ="http://m.yahoo.com" width="500" height="400"></iframe>
You could add a Donkey Kong game so you can play it in your spare time
You could create a list of links to your favorite sites and free up your book
