Overview
The hilarious interactive sci-fi novel where you control the main character!
Fight on the front lines of the war between humanity and the hideous Blobs. (Not that anyone has actually seen a Blob up close, but everyone knows they have tentacles. Surely they’re hideous!) Go on stealth missions, run alien blockades, and investigate mysterious planets, "aided" by Lloyd, your insufferably obnoxious shipboard computer. Choice of the Star Captain is the hilarious interactive science-fiction novel where your choices determine how the story proceeds. The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--but powered by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. For example, suppose Lloyd has just informed you that your ship will crash land on the jungle moon of Cygnus Delta in 93 seconds. What will you do? A) Call upon your elite piloting skills to escape the moon’s gravity well. B) Invite Lloyd to land the ship himself, if he’s so smart. C) Make the prudent choice, and try landing on the moon’s surface instead of attempting a risky escape. D) Spend the last 93 seconds of your life gleefully smashing Lloyd’s screen with a torque wrench. Humanity needs you, Star Captain! Will you defeat the Blobs and come home as a war hero? Will you uncover the secret that sparked the Blob invasion? Will you serve as ambassador and convince the Blobs to spare the human race? The choice is yours.

First of All I put 3 stars not because I think is a bad game but because to be fair the game has potential (I like the Captain/Lloyd interaction banter the humor is witty and is studied to be like this in a funny way) but got you cornered in a role you probably don't want (you make a choice then the "narrator" show you that if you do that you are done, well this don't leave me much choices on what the story is about (StarComm & Blobs deal with it), after that it's all about not on what you d... A good CYOA, it is short however. The main premise is sound and it is well written, especially the AI on you ship (as for me I really got annoyed by him). It does feel that the story is trying to push you a certain way though, like it wants you to follow a specific path. But overall a good CYOA.

One of my favorite "choose your own adventure" games so far, beaten only by Choice of the Vampire (which really needs to be finished, if anyone's reading...) Enjoyable throughout the story and with a good sense of humor, with plenty of ways to approach situations and play a character your own way. Plot is a bit predictable, but it doesn't detract much from the fun.
