Enables easy access to private search engines directly from the autocomplete of your address bar.
People are aware of the need for privacy while browsing online, but don’t always remember to protect it. Our extension reminds you of the importance of your browsing privacy by offering you a quick access link to the private search engine of your choice right from the address bar of your Chrome when you type privacy-related keywords or terms.
Inside this extension, we support DuckDuckGo (Default), Startpage, MetaGer, and Qwant. You can visit the Settings section from inside the extension and do further customization.
For this extension to function, we would require the following permissions from you:
1. Access to “contextMenus”. We require this permission in order to add more items containing information about this extension to the menu.
2. Access to “Notifications” (optional). We require this permission in order to send you notifications to inform you that the query you typed in the address bar is detected as a privacy-related keyword.
3. Change your default search engine. To provide the main functionality from within the autocomplete suggestions of this extension, we require this permission to change your default search engine to our domain thesafesearch.net, powered by Yahoo. If you want to choose a different option, in this extension we support Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
How to remove it?
If you would like to remove the extension from your browser, simply go to “Settings” on Chrome, in the Extensions section, you can find the name of our extension and click “remove”.
